DEFEATED TRAPPED AND UNHAPPY!

In the Bible Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the fish's belly.  - Jonah 2:1

Walking past my barn one day, I heard a frantic chirping inside.  When I investigated, I found a poor blue jay beating its wings against the window.   had it not cried and chirped, I would not have heard, but its cry for help prompted me to come, open the door wide, and allow it to fly out to freedom.

God's children get themselves into some unusual places and unhappy circumstances.   Consider the following incidents:

  • Jonah in a fish's belly, running from God (Jon2:1).
  • David in enemy territory, acting insane (1 Sam 21:10-15).
  • Abram in Egypt, lying about his wife (Gen 12:10-13).
  • Lot in Sodom, living with the wicked (Gen 13:12-13).
  • Elijah in the desert, wallowing in self-pity (Ki 19:4).
  • Peter in a courtyard, denying his Lord (Luke 22:55-62
God's children should not be found in such circumstances, but all too often they are.
Are you in a place you shouldn't be today?   Are you far from God, feeling defeated, trapped, and unhappy?
Then cry out to the Lord, confess your sin, and be restored by His abundant mercy (1 Jn 1:9).   He is waiting to hear your cry of repentance.M.r.De Hann, MD.

There is only One who knows
All the answers to my woes;
He will all my needs supply,
When in faith to Him I cry. - Morgan

NO PLACE IS BEYOND THE REACH OF GOD'S GRACE.

Psa 40:4  Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. MSG

Psa 40:4  Blessed are you who give yourselves over to GOD, turn your backs on the world's "sure thing," ignore what the world worships; NKJV

Psalms 40:4
Blessed is the man that makes the Lord his trust,.... For such are safe and secure in him, are possessed of all blessings of grace through him, have peace in their own souls now, and shall enjoy eternal happiness with him hereafter;

and respected not the proud; such as the Pharisees, and all self-righteous persons, who trust in themselves and their own righteousness in sin and submit not to the righteousness of Christ, and despise others; to these who trust in Christ have no respect; they neither esteem them, nor imitate them;

nor such as turn aside to lies; to idols, the lying vanities of the Gentiles; or to any doctrines injurious to the person, office, blood, righteousness, sacrifice, and grace of Christ; which are no other than lies, and which those who believe in Christ have no respect to, but abhor both them and the abettors of them.

THE PRE-EXISTENCE OF CHRIST

John 1:1  The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God,

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2  He was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
Joh 1:4  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

IN THE BEGINNING THE WORD WAS FIRST BEFORE ALL THINGS-THE WORD WAS GOD-JESUS IS THE WORD (THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA).THE BEGINNING AND THE ENDING.
The same was in the Beginning with God. ‘The same’—He who has just been spoken of as God—was in the beginning ‘with God’: i.e., ‘He of whom I have spoken as God, was in the beginning in active, eternal communion with God,—not simply the Word with God, but God with God.’
The elements of the thought have been given in John_1:1, but in their combination they acquire new force. The special object of these words seems to be to prepare for the next verse; it is only when we have been taught concerning ‘God with God’ that we are prepared to hear of the creation of all things ‘through’ the Divine Word
He with whom the Divine Wordwas in the beginningcreated all through Him.

John 1:4 In him was life - He was the foundation of life to every living thing, as well as of being to all that is. And the life was the light of men - He who is essential life, and the giver of life to all that lives, was also the light of men; the fountain of wisdom, holiness, and happiness, to man in his original state.

The word Genesis means 'beginning' and within the bible are recorded the origins of both sacred and secular history.   This can be a new beginning in your life of a deeper understanding of the truth and love for the creator Lord God and His Word.
The first 2000 years of history are contained in the first eleven chapters and are characterized by four major and significant events. Creation, Corruption, Condemnation, Confusion
Creation:                                               Corruption:
Origin of all things.                              Sin of Adam.
Gen. 1-2                                                 Gen. 3-5
In the beginning.                                     Satan's subtlety.                                                                                 Adam's sin.
Days of Creation.                                     Strife and death.               Days of Rest.

Condemnation (Flood of Noah) (Gen 6-9)
Conditions before the flood.
Salvation through flood
Tragedy following flood
.

Confusion
Tower of Babel (Gen 10-11)
Arrogance of man
Judgement of God
Origin of nations

John 1:1
In the beginning - (Referring to Gen_1:1, and Pro_8:23.) When all things began to be made by the Word: in the beginning of heaven and earth, and this whole frame of created beings, the Word existed, without any beginning. He was when all things began to be, whatsoever had a beginning. The Word - So termed Psa_33:6, and frequently by the seventy, and in the Chaldee paraphrase. So that St. John did not borrow this expression from Philo, or any heathen writer. He was not yet named Jesus, or Christ. He is the Word whom the Father begat or spoke from eternity; by whom the Father speaking, makes all things; who speaks the Father to us. We have, in Joh_1:18, both a real description of the Word, and the reason why he is so called. He is the only begotten Son of the Father, who is in the bosom of the Father, and hath declared him. And the Word was with God - Therefore distinct from God the Father. The word rendered with, denotes a perpetual tendency as it were of the Son to the Father, in unity of essence. He was with God alone; because nothing beside God had then any being. And the Word was God - Supreme, eternal, independent. There was no creature, in respect of which he could be styled God in a relative sense. Therefore he is styled so in the absolute sense. The Godhead of the Messiah being clearly revealed in the Old Testament, (Jer_23:7; Hos_1:6; Psa_23:1,) the other evangelists aim at this, to prove that Jesus, a true man, was the Messiah. But when, at length, some from hence began to doubt of his Godhead, then St. John expressly asserted it, and wrote in this book as it were a supplement to the Gospels, as in the Revelation to the prophets.

To deceive is to tell a lie!

George Evans

Shared publicly

Today’s devotional message is about our enemy.  It goes on to describe one of the weapons we have at our disposal against him.  And while it is true that we have the authority to talk back to the devil, we have to be very careful when we do that.  Satan is described as the originator and chef practitioner of sin (I John 3:8),he is that wicked one (I John 5:18), a thief and a destroyer (John 10:10), a deceiver (Revelation 12:9),murderer and liar (John 8:44), and the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10).  Satan’s craftiness and deceitful nature is first depicted during the fall of mankind in
3:1-1 Genesis 3, and in fact he masquerades as an angel of light  *(II Corinthians 11:14),* and him that deceives the whole world(Revelation 12:19).  He continues to be on opposition of all God is by counterfeiting the works of God and destroying all that is good.  The phrase deceive the whole world (Revelation 12:9) is a definitive statement, that is a statement of summary, which summarizes the actions of the devil in the earth realm.  During every free moment in the earth realm, Satan’s only purpose has been to deceive the world.  To deceive is to tell a lie.  He is the father of lies and the father of deceit.  If he can plant a lie, get you to accept it, then get you to act upon it, he can gain control of your mind in the battle for your soul.  He wants you to think on things that are not true, keeping you confused, so that you will not know God’s will for your life.  Satan is out to deceive you.  Satan is not a creator and has used the same tactics as he did during his first encounter with mankind.  He uses the same methods today that he used in that encounter with Eve in the garden.  Why would he change his methods of operation since they worked so well for him in the past against them that were pure in heart and mind?  They had no thoughts that were not pure to confuse their minds and no bad genes passed down for past generations to deal with like you do, but Satan used trickery to defeat them.  What he used to defeat them then, is what he will use to defeat you today.

We see this same tactics of trickery used on Jesus when he was in the desert (Luke 4:1-13).  We also see the results of that encounter, when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season (Luke 4:13).  In the story, we know that Jesus recited the word of God back to the devil, which immediately ended each of the three temptations.  But did you notice that there was not another word from the devil.  Here is the part of that story that we want to bring to your attention.  If you are going to use this weapon against the devil, then you best have the word of God inside of you so that, in your time of need, the words will flow out as they flowed out of Jesus in his time of need.  We promise you that we will not be allowed to call time out, pull out your Bible, and then try find a scripture that applies to you particular situation.  It pays to get the word of God inside of you so that it becomes a part of your being.  Remember, the devil counts on you not knowing the word of God, so that he can twist it and get you to accept it.  Remember, God has instructed us to study his word to show ourselves approved unto him, meaning he wants us to investigate, analyze, and question his word, which will help us in our battles.  If this message is a blessing to you, please share it so that others may be blessed by it as well.  Blessings.

ACCEPT CHRIST IN YOUR LIFE?

< div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Power of God!

HOW TO ACCEPT CHRIST IN YOUR LIFE?

Do you know for certain that you have eternal life and that you will go to heaven when you die?
God wants you to be sure.   The bible says,"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of Almighty God so that you may know that you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13).

Suppose you were standing before God right now and He asked you, "Why should I let you into
heaven?"   What do you think you would say?  You may not know what to reply.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

God's Purpose Is That You Have Eternal Life:

You can receive eternal life as a free gift.   "The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus Our Lord" (Romans 6:23b).

You can live a full and meaningful life right now.   Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10b).

You can spend eternity with Jesus in Heaven, for He promised, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am"(Jn14:3).

We need God's life in us now to live purposefully lives.  You see our sinful nature keeps us from fulfilling God's purpose for our lives.  Gods purpose is that we have meaning in life as we direct our lives and hearts towards Him. But unfortunately most people seldom find true meaning in life?

We are all sinners by nature and by choice.   "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"  [Romans3:23]
     We cannot save ourselves.
"Not by works, so no one can boast" [Eph 2:9]

     We deserve death and hell.
"For the wages of sin is death" [Rom 6:23a].

We can receive what we do not deserve.   God is holy and just and must punish sin, wet He loves us (whom He has created)

Think of Jesus Christ knocking now, asking to come into your life.
You want Him to come in, or perhaps you want to make sure He has come into your life.
It might help you to say this prayer, phrase by phrase, quietly, thoughtfully, thinking carefully about what you are saying, and what you are doing.

Lord Jesus Christ, I know I have sinned in my thoughts, words and actions
which have not pleased you but have offended you.
There are so many good things I have not done.
There are so many sinful things I have done.
I am sorry for my sins and turn from them and everything I know to be wrong.
You gave your life upon the cross for me.
Gratefully I give my life back to you, my creator God.
Now I ask you to come into my life anew.
Come in as my Saviour to cleanse me.
Come in as my Lord to control me.
And I will serve you all the remaining years of my life in complete obedience..............AMEN!

THE DEATH DEALING SIN, THE LIFE GIVING GIFT

Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.
Mark 11:25

THE DEATH DEALING SIN, THE LIFE GIVING GIFT

You know the story of how Adam landed us in the dilemma we're in - first sin, then death, and no one exempt from either sin or death.   That sin disturbed relations with God in everything and everyone, but the extent of the disturbance was not clear until God spelled  it out in detail to Moses.

So death, this huge abyss separating us from God, dominated the landscape from Adam to Moses.   Even those who didn't sin precisely as Adam did by disobeying a specific command of God still had to experience this termination of life, this separation from God.  But Adam, who got us into this, also points ahead to the One who will get us out of it.

Yet the rescuing gift is not exactly parallel to the death-dealing sin.   If one man's sin put crowds of people at the dead-end abyss of separation from God, just think what God's gift poured through one man, Jesus Christ, will do!   There no comparison between that death-dealing sin and this generous, life-giving gift.

The verdict on that one sin was the death sentence; the verdict on the many sins that followed was this wonderful life sentence.   If death got the upper hand through one man's wrongdoing, can you imagine the breathtaking recovery life makes, sovereign life, in those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting everything-right, that the one man Jesus Christ provides?

Here it is in a nutshell:  Just as one person did it wrong and get us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it.   But more than that just getting us out of trouble, He got us into life!   One man said no to God and put many people in the wrong;  one man said yes to God and put many in the right.

All that passing laws against sin did was produce more law-breakers.   But sin didn't, and doesn't, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call GRACE.   When it's sin versus grace, grace wins hands down.   All sin can do is threaten us with death, and that's the end of it, Grace, because God is putting everything together again through the Messiah, invites us into LIFE - a  life that goes on and on and on, world without end.

A Man with Grace on His Mind

Shared publicly

MY LORD~
Oh my Lord, how You move me
Beyond anything I've ever known
You shine Yourself upon my heart
Exposing my need for the mercy You've shown

To Your promises I will forever cling
As if my only source of life
Without You I am lifeless
A broken shattered mess

But Your love ignites in me, my Lord!
I want to shout my Lord to the world!
"Wake up, this is where it is"!
"All joy, comfort, and peace"!

But they turn away and ignore my cries
In search for another way
Knowing it exists nowhere else
I beg you Lord, won't You open their eyes?

[ Romans 3:23]
For all have sinned,.... This is the general character of all mankind; all have sinned in Adam, are guilty by his sin, polluted with it, and condemned for it; all are sinners in themselves, and by their own actual transgressions; this is the case of the whole world,

and of all the men in it; not only of the Gentiles, but of the Jews, and the more righteous among them: hence there is no difference in the state and condition of men by nature; nor is there any reason from and in themselves, why God saves one and not another; nor any room to despair of the grace and righteousness of Christ, on account of persons being, in their own view, the worst of sinners:
and hence it is, that they are all come short of the glory of God; either of glorifying of God; man was made for this purpose, and was capable of it, though now through sin incapable; and it is only by the grace of God that he is enabled to do it: or of glorying: before him; sin has made him infamous, and is his shame; by it he has forfeited all external favors, and has nothing of his own to glory in; his moral righteousness is no foundation for boasting, especially before God: or of having glory from God; the most pure and perfect creature does not of itself deserve any glory and praise from God; good men, in a way of grace, will have praise of God; but sinners can never expect any on their own account: or of the glorious grace of God, as sanctifying and pardoning grace, and particularly the grace of a justifying righteousness; man has no righteousness, nor can he work out one; nor will his own avail, he wants a better than that: or of eternal glory; which may be called the glory of God, because it is of his preparing, what he calls persons to by his grace, and which of his own free grace he bestows upon them, and will chiefly lie in the enjoyment of him; now this is represented sometimes as a prize, which is run for, and pressed after; but men, through sinning, come short of it, and must of themselves do so for ever: or rather of the image of God in man, who is called "the image and glory of God", 1Co_11:7, which consisted externally in government over the creatures; internally, in righteousness and holiness, in wisdom and knowledge, in the bias of his mind to that which is good, and in power to perform it; of all which he is come short, or deprived by sinning.

A Man with Grace on His Mind:

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift!” (2Co_1:1)

Yesterday we discussed the “unspeakable gift.” We know from the context of this exuberant exclamation that Paul is talking about the Grace of God. A quick reading of what led up to this burst of enthusiasm from the apostle will show that he was a man with grace on his mind.

Consider this. Paul writes to the Corinthian church so as to ready them for a visit from himself. The primary purpose of the visit is to pick up a promised collection of goods and resources for the relief of the famine-smitten Christians in Jerusalem. Paul has told other churches throughout the region about the Corinthian’s pledge of generosity, and one of the churches – the Philippians church in Macedonia – had followed the Corinthian’s example and already given a gift of relief to Paul.

Now on his way to Corinth with a few of the leaders from the Philippians church, Paul thought it best to write and make sure they were ready to deliver on their promise. In this short section Paul speaks about God’s grace no less than seven times.

Let’s review.

First he tells them that God “bestowed His grace on the churches of Macedonia” and thereby empowered them to do what even they themselves did not realise was possible. “For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints” (2Co_8:3-4).

He then writes, “We urged Titus to bring to completion this act of grace on your part” (2Co_8:6), and then personally challenges them – “see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”

Then Paul lifts their vision high and points them to Jesus – “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich” (2Co_8:9).

Finally, Paul gets to the heart of the matter – “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2Co_9:8). In other words, whatever it is that God wants you to do He will see to it that you have everything you need to get it done without skimping or cutting corners – and you will even had something left in reserve.

Paul then tells them he is on his way, travelling “with this grace” (i.e., the tangible evidence of God’s power displayed in and through the Philippians). (see 2Co_8:19).

And he concludes his appeal with a promise – “men will praise God for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you!” (2Co_9:13-15).

Finding his heart full, and finding himself incapable of fully explaining what he feels about all of this, Paul erupts and shouts – “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2Co_9:15). In a single word – GRACE!

How might your day be different if you go through it with Grace on your mind? Might you find yourself bursting forth into praise before the clock strikes twelve?

JESUS WHO?

JESUS WHO?
For 18 years she had been bedridden with a debilitating disease.  As her health deteriorated, her neighbors and her husband were expecting her death at any time.

The husband was on business in another village in Hindustan.  While in the marketplace he heard a man speak with authority about Jesus.  He said 'Any of you can ask Jesus to help you with any of your problems and sickness.  He will answer your requests because He is the true and living God.'

These words were ringing in the husband's mind as he returned home.  He was wondering who this Jesus was.  He knew that his wife would die anytime.  That night he decided to pray,  'Jesus, I don't know who you are, but that man stood in the marketplace and said that anyone can ask You and You will help, Please heal my wife!'  This became his daily prayer.

Over a period of three months she got progressively better and was able to get out of bed and walk.
Her friends and neighbors saw her on her feet for the first time in 18 years.  'Who was the doctor who treated her?' they asked.

The husband explained that it was not a doctor and he went on to tell of his experience - how he heard the man in the marketplace say, 'If you ask Jesus to help you with your problems and heal your sickness, He will.'  So every day and night I would call on the name of JESUS, and I could see my wife getting better.
Many of the villagers had never had never heard the name of JESUS, but the husband believed Him to be' a God who can do anything'.  People brought their sick to the husband so he could ask JESUS
to heal them.  To his surprise JESUS continued to answer his prayers and many were healed.

Leaders of the cross-cultural outreach team from Hindustan Bible College had asked the Lord to lead them to a village that had not heard about JESUS.  When they arrived at the village where these events took place, they were awestruck at what the Lord had already done.  They were able to tell the villagers who Jesus was and many of them accepted Him as their Lord and Savior.

WONDERFUL LORD JESUS

WONDERFUL LORD JESUS

So wonderful, no other name can thrill my soul (eg; Mind,Will, Emotions) like this!
The name of Jesus Christ alone brings peace and joy and bliss.
So wonderful, through Him were made all things that do appear;
Yet even then, He was ordained A sacrifice most dear.
So wonderful, throughout God's word, We see the Lord revealed;
As to His saints, in days of old, His promises were sealed,
So wonderful, He came to earth, Born of a virgin pure;
And here, among'st the sons of men, did human flesh endure.
So wonderful, He lived His life, in love and holiness.
He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and needy souls did bless.
So wonderful, in agony, upon the cross to die;
On Him the sins of men were laid, 'Forgive them,' was His cry.
So wonderful, though laid to rest, The grave could not contain,
The perfect, sinless Son of God, He rose in power again.
So wonderful, ascended up, He sits and reigns today,
On the right hand of God above, And for His saints does pray.
So wonderful, He comes to dwell, Within the hearts of all,
Who trust  Him for eternal life, And on His mercy fall.
So wonderful, He will return, In glory to the earth;
And then, throughout eternity, We shall proclaim His worth.

Philippians 2:5-11

A Heart full of thankfulness
A thimbleful of care,
A soul of simple hopefulness,
An early morning prayer.
A smile to greet the morning,
A kind word as the key,
To open the door and greet the day,
Whate'er it brings to thee,
A patient trust in the LORD
To sweeten all the way...
All these, combined with thoughtfulness,
Will make a happy day.

SAVED BY THE LAMB OF GOD

[1 Peter 2:21-25]
JESUS DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE

[Jesus] bore our sins in His own body. [1 Peter 2:24]
A tourist who had visited a church in Norway said that he was surprised to see the carved figure of a lamb near the top of the church's tower.

He learned that when the church was being built, a workman fell from a high scaffold.  His co-workers rushed down, expecting to find him dead.  But to their surprise and joy, he was alive and only slightly injured.

How did he survive?  A flock of sheep was passing beneath the tower at the time, and he landed on top of a lamb.  The lamb broke his fall and was crushed to death, but the man was saved.  To remember that miraculous escape, someone carved a lamb on the tower at the exact height from which the workman fell.

John the Baptist described Jesus as "The Lamb of God Who Takes Away The Sin Of The World"[Jn 1:29]
Peter said that the full weight of our sins fell upon Jesus [1 Pet 2:24].  And the apostle Paul explained, "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness (in right standing)
of God in Him" [2 Cor 5:21]. We all have fallen in sin, but on the Cross Jesus took the punishment for our sin upon Himself.  He now offers eternal life and forgiveness of offences against a holy God.
He offers newness of life forever starting now for eternity if you will ask Him now from your sincere heart
to forgive you and ask Him for a personal relationship with Him and to put your faith in Him [Jn 3:1-16]
Have you been saved by the Lamb? - M.R.De Haan MD.

If you from sin are longing to be free,
Look to the Lamb of God,
He, to redeem you, died on Calvary,
Look to the Lamb of God.   - Jackson.

There is no sin too great that the Savior has not covered in His sacrifice for us all,
if we will accept Him into our hearts to dwell, where He will guide us on wards by His Holy Spirit.
But we have to repent and turn away from the life that we are living now and begin again and be born of the Spirit by the only way.  Jesus Christ said I am the way, the truth and the life now and ever after amen.

REPENT OF ALL YOUR SINS turn away from them, to God.Whatever it costs, heaven is cheap at any cost!

Life is short.   ETERNITY IS FOREVER!
[ confess this sinners prayer from your heart most sincerely]

LORD JESUS YOU DIED FOR MY SINS AT CALVARY,
CLEANSE ME OF ALL MY SINS BY THE POWER OF YOUR BLOOD, COME INTO MY LIFE
AND HELP ME TO FOLLOW YOU FOR THE REST OF MY DAYS, IN YOUR PRECIOUS NAME.......AMEN.

The Dimensions of His Grace

The Dimensions of His Grace
In Him we have our redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace . . . that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus . . . To me Paul, who am less than the least of all saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable (unfathomable) riches of Christ.  (Eph_1:7; Eph_2:7; Eph_3:8)

What are the dimensions of the grace of God? How extensive are the resources of His grace? So often we drastically underestimate the measure of God's supply of grace for our lives.
God is rich in grace. When He forgave our sins, He did so "according to the riches of His grace."  Think of the bountiful measure of grace that was bestowed to remove our guilt and shame. God generously poured out His grace in order to wash away our iniquities.
Yet, in doing this He did not deplete the treasures of His grace.

In Ephesians 2:7, God speaks of the "exceeding riches of His grace." The Lord's grace is far beyond any richness that we have ever yet comprehended or experienced. God's storehouse of grace is so abundantly full that He will be pouring it out upon us for the "ages to come." Yes, it will take eternity for the Lord to fully demonstrate His grace toward us. This everlasting demonstration of His grace will involve showing His kindness toward all of us who are in Christ Jesus. Think of it — the dimensions of God's grace are sufficient for Him to make us the objects of His kindness for ever and ever!
One could liken the riches of God's grace to an infinitely vast ocean. Think of the immensity of the oceans of the world. Although they are magnificent in scope, every ocean can be searched out or fathomed. Every ocean has a bottom that can be reached. Though vast, they are finite.

Paul testified that the Lord gave him grace to go forth and proclaim the "unsearchable (unfathomable) riches of Christ." There is more grace available in the heart of God for us than there is water in all of the oceans of the world! Truly, no matter how much grace we have already discovered in Christ, we have only begun to search out the riches of His grace toward us.

Heavenly Father, we are awe struck at the vast dimensions of Your grace. Forgive us for underestimating that grace so often. Enlighten the eyes of our hearts that we might know the richness of Your grace. May the immeasurable ocean of Your grace be our daily supply for life in Christ, in His name we pray, Amen.

JESUS CHRIST IS THE LORD

Jesus Christ is Lord.”
Psalms 8
Our last reading showed us man fresh from the hand of his Maker. It will be well to pause and consider the Lord’s goodness to our race. We cannot find a fitter assistance for our meditation than David’s joyful vintage hymn.
Psa_8:2
It is a part of the excellence and glory of God that he magnifies Himself by means of insignificant creatures. Though his name is excellent in all the earth yet babes may praise it, and though His glory be above the heavens sucklings may proclaim it. It needs a great orator to win men’s admiration for a doubtful character; but so surpassing glorious is the Lord, that even a child’s tongue suffices to baffle His foes, and charm his friends.
Psa_8:4
The heavens are so vast and he so small; the moon so bright and he so mean; the stars so glorious and he so grovelling; Lord, how canst thou stoop from the sublimity's of heaven to visit such a nothing as man? The study of astronomy is calculated to humble the mind as well as to enlarge it: and at the same time it excites adoring gratitude when we see the Lord lavishing his love upon creatures so insignificant as ourselves.
Psa_8:5
Since he is mortal and angels are immortal, man is a little lower than they; yet it is but for a little time and then man’s coronation with glory and Honor shall have come. Then shalt it be seen that angels are but servants to the saints, and that all creatures work for their benefit.
Psa_8:8
All these creatures he either tames to his hand, or slays for his use. His fear and dread are on them all. Marred as mans dominion is, he still walks among the inferior animals with something of that awe, which, as a poet saith, “doth hedge a king.” In Adam’s innocence man’s rule of. the lower races was no doubt complete and delightful; one imagines him leaning upon a tawny lion, while a fawn frisks at the side of Eve. In the Lord Jesus, however, we see man most eminently in the place of Honor, exalted in the highest. We know that the position of our Lord Jesus is a representative one for all his people, for the members are like the Head. In Jesus man is indeed “crowned with glory and Honor.” It is both our duty and our privilege to rise superior to all the things of earth. We must take care to keep the world under our feet, and the creatures in their proper place. Let none of us permit the possession of any earthly creatures to be a snare unto us; we are to reign over them, and must not permit them to reign over us.

Lord, what is man, or all his race,
Who dwell so far below,
That Thou shouldest visit him with grace,
And love His nature so?

That Thine eternal Son should bear
To take a mortal form,
Made lower than His angels are,
To save a dying worm?

Let Him be crown’d with majesty
Who bow’d His head to death;
And be His Honor's sounded high
By all things that have breath.

We raise our shouts, O God, to thee,
And send them to thy throne;
All glory to the united Three,
The undivided One.

‘It was He, and we’ll adore His name,
That form’d us by a word;
‘It is He restores our ruin’d frame:
Salvation to the Lord!

Rest in the Lord.”
Gen_2:1-3
We have grouped together a few of the texts which refer to the Sabbath, in order that at one reading we may have the subject before us. In the history of the creation, we have the institution of the sacred day of rest.
Gen_2:1-3
This primitive institution was confirmed at the giving of the Law upon Sinai; and is therefore surrounded by as solemn sanctions as any other precept of the Decalogue.
Exo_20:8-11
Mar_2:23-28
We are not, however, to regard this law as forbidding the doing of works of piety, charity, or necessity, for our Lord Jesus has awarded us full liberty on these points. He corrected Jewish misconceptions, and taught us not to make a bondage of the day of rest.
Mar_2:28
Luk_14:1-5
Our Lord performed many of his noblest cures on the Sabbath, as if to show that the day was ordained to glorify God by yielding benefit to man. If at one time more than another the healing virtue flows freely from our Lord, it is on that one day in seven which is reserved for holy uses, and is called “the Lord’s Day.” In the passage which we are about to read he shows how suitable it is that a holy day should be crowned with holy deeds of mercy and love.

O day of rest and gladness,
O day of joy and light,
O balm of care and sadness,
Most beautiful, most bright!
Thou art a cooling fountain
In life’s dry, dreary sand;
From thee, like Pisgah’s mountain,
We view our promised land.

May we, new graces gaining
From this our day of rest,
Attain the rest remaining
To spirits of the Blessed;
And there our voice upraising
To Father and to Son,
And Holy Ghost, be praising
Ever the Three in One.
