Today’s devotional message is about our enemy. It goes on to describe one of the weapons we have at our disposal against him. And while it is true that we have the authority to talk back to the devil, we have to be very careful when we do that. Satan is described as the originator and chef practitioner of sin (I John 3:8),he is that wicked one (I John 5:18), a thief and a destroyer (John 10:10), a deceiver (Revelation 12:9),murderer and liar (John 8:44), and the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10). Satan’s craftiness and deceitful nature is first depicted during the fall of mankind in
3:1-1 Genesis 3, and in fact he masquerades as an angel of light *(II Corinthians 11:14),* and him that deceives the whole world(Revelation 12:19). He continues to be on opposition of all God is by counterfeiting the works of God and destroying all that is good. The phrase deceive the whole world (Revelation 12:9) is a definitive statement, that is a statement of summary, which summarizes the actions of the devil in the earth realm. During every free moment in the earth realm, Satan’s only purpose has been to deceive the world. To deceive is to tell a lie. He is the father of lies and the father of deceit. If he can plant a lie, get you to accept it, then get you to act upon it, he can gain control of your mind in the battle for your soul. He wants you to think on things that are not true, keeping you confused, so that you will not know God’s will for your life. Satan is out to deceive you. Satan is not a creator and has used the same tactics as he did during his first encounter with mankind. He uses the same methods today that he used in that encounter with Eve in the garden. Why would he change his methods of operation since they worked so well for him in the past against them that were pure in heart and mind? They had no thoughts that were not pure to confuse their minds and no bad genes passed down for past generations to deal with like you do, but Satan used trickery to defeat them. What he used to defeat them then, is what he will use to defeat you today.
We see this same tactics of trickery used on Jesus when he was in the desert (Luke 4:1-13). We also see the results of that encounter, when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season (Luke 4:13). In the story, we know that Jesus recited the word of God back to the devil, which immediately ended each of the three temptations. But did you notice that there was not another word from the devil. Here is the part of that story that we want to bring to your attention. If you are going to use this weapon against the devil, then you best have the word of God inside of you so that, in your time of need, the words will flow out as they flowed out of Jesus in his time of need. We promise you that we will not be allowed to call time out, pull out your Bible, and then try find a scripture that applies to you particular situation. It pays to get the word of God inside of you so that it becomes a part of your being. Remember, the devil counts on you not knowing the word of God, so that he can twist it and get you to accept it. Remember, God has instructed us to study his word to show ourselves approved unto him, meaning he wants us to investigate, analyze, and question his word, which will help us in our battles. If this message is a blessing to you, please share it so that others may be blessed by it as well. Blessings.
